Upstate Shredding-Weitsman to Build New Ithaca Scrap Metal Plant

The Owego, New York-headquartered Upstate Shredding-Weitsman Recycling announced its decision to build a new state-of-the-art scrap metal facility outside the Ithaca city limits. The exact location of the scrap and retail steel facility was not disclosed.

The decision comes after the company’s discussions with a development group that expressed interest about its current location of its new steel facility at 132 Cherry Street in Ithaca. The property that hosts the steel plant is owned by the company, whereas the property across the road is being leased by the company for recycling operation. The development group had identified the location due to its proximity with the water, said Adam Weitsman, CEO, Upstate Shredding-Weitsman Recycling.
